Scout was accepted as a project with proposal status by the Eclipse Foundation early in 2010. The Eclipse Scout code has been available as an open source resource worldwide since the end of 2010. In summer 2011, the Enterprise Application Framework will "ride along" for the first time on the annual Eclipse Release Train. “We are proud of what we have achieved so far and therefore are really looking forward to California this year. By the way: We have a little surprise under wraps, which we shall reveal during our talk on Wednesday,” commented Andreas Hoegger of BSI. “I am happy to see the progress being made in the Eclipse Scout project. Tools and frameworks, such as Eclipse Scout, can significantly boost the productivity of developers that are working on the implementation of business applications," added Mike Milinkovich, Executive Director of the Eclipse Foundation.

Scout – called Eclipse Scout -–was developed ten years ago by BSI to simplify the implementation of business applications and to boost the productivity of developers. Scout has been continuously further developed since then and today is completely based on the Java/Eclipse platform. Eclipse Scout serves as the central platform for BSI applications, such as BSI CRM. The framework consists of an application model, a reference implementation and a comprehensive utility package. Scout also includes an SDK, which accelerates the development of complex business applications. Further information about Eclipse Scout can be found at:
