TAIPEI CYCLE returns to a March date to lead the calendar year through 2021

Taipei, Taiwan July 2, 2018 – TAIPEI CYCLE 2018, to be held this year
from October 31 to November 3 at the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC)
Nangang Exhibition Halls 1 and 3, bears witness to the transformations of
the Taiwan cycling industry over the past three decades. Taiwan has
become among the top three suppliers of bicycles in 73 countries in terms
of market share, as well as the global leader in the supply chain.
Meanwhile, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the
organizer of TAIPEI CYCLE, has grown the leading Asian cycling show
into one of the top three cycling trade fairs in the world. TAIPEI CYCLE,
harnessing the competitiveness of the Taiwan cycling industry, now
serves as the platform for leading the industry worldwide in research and
development.
Mr. Walter Yeh, the President of TAITRA, emphasizes in a press
conference in Taipei today that the export of Taiwan cycles and cycle
parts continues to climb to new heights as the Taiwan cycling industry
innovates to meet the demands of in different market segments. For
January through April this year, the average price for bicycles exported
from Taiwan has reached USD 588 per unit. With e-bikes leading the
trend in the development of the cycling industry worldwide, Taiwan’s
exports of e-bikes have grown 55% during this period, amounting to USD
113 million, with the average unit price at USD 1,394.25.
Ms. Gina Chang, Secretary-General of the Taiwan Bicycle Association
(TBA), states that although the global cycling industry faces many
challenges, the Taiwan cycling industry maintains a technical advantage
in the development of high-end products such as e-bikes, and is capable
of responding rapidly to market changes. Undergirding these successes,
as Mr. Yeh affirms, is the fruitful and longstanding collaboration between
TAITRA and TBA.
In the last TBA board meeting in June, the directors unanimously agreed

to return the date of TAIPEI CYCLE to March for the next three years
(2019 through 2021), so that TAIPEI CYCLE can maintain its position as
the leading cycling show in the calendar year. This adjustment will both
showcase the innovation of Taiwan manufacturers and set the stage for
the worldwide cycling industry.
